Eastern tent caterpillar

These animals use cherry trees (Prunus spp.) as their host and eventually undergo metamorphosis and then develop into a moth. Please note: These insects are NOT harmful to cherry trees, even though they do eat many of the leaves. Photo taken May 13, 2011 at my apartment in Chillicothe, Ohio.
